The project includes both the Sines-Aveiras multi-products pipeline as well as the Storage plant.

Sines - Aveiras Pipeline

The pipeline, which started being built in April 1996 and was finished in October 1996, is 147Km long and carries 7 products in sequence and by cycles as follows:

Diesel; Gasoline wo/ pb 95; Butane; Propane; Butane; Gasoline wo/pb 98; Gasoline wo/pb 95; Diesel; Jet A1; Diesel;...

The pipeline is an all welded tube, with 3 coats of polyethelene, and 5 valves along its entire length, each one representing a section, and which are remotely controlled from the control room in Aveiras.

Originating in Sines Refinery, were the main pumping station is located, the pipeline has, in the present configuration, the capacity to carry 4 million tons/year and is the first of its type able to transport White Oils and LPG.

The Aveiras Storage Plant

The plant area is about 60 acres and comprise distinct sectors: the storage of W.O. and LPG, the shipment of bulk products, the filling of bottled LPG, the pipeline terminal and the effluent treatment plant, the support area and the tanker parking area.

 

The storage area is equal to 50% of the total area and comprises 18 W.O. tanks (Diesel, Gasoline and Jet), 8 "slops" tanks and 14 LPG spheres (butan and propane).

The total storage capacity is, approximately, 250 000 m3, of which 215 000m3 is for WO and 30 800m3 for LPG.

The plant has two filling stations, one for WO (able to fill 10 tankers simultaneously) and another for LPG (able to fill 5 tankers simultaneously).

Also six corossels for bottled LPG (G26) with a capacity of nearly 1200 bottles/hour each and another two carossels with a capacity of 165 bottles/hour for bottled LPG (G110).
