The CLC plant is, without doubt, the best long term solution to supplying the Portuguese Central region and Lisbon metropolitan area, the following aspects, being the most relevant:

• Several oil and oil related plants were dismantled on the right bank of the Tagus River.
• Nearly 200 oil tankers a year were removed form the Tagus every year, as they no longer had to call at Lisbon to unload WO and LPG
• By using the Sines to Aveiras pipeline, an average of 400 tankers daily, were taken off the motorways - nearly 4 million mt - that would otherwise congest all the traffic in and around the Tagus Bridges
• Several hundreds of tankers and bottled gas lorries no longer circulate In and around Lisbon.

With this investment, fully operational since April 1997, the country has seen its security and a regular supply of fuels essential for its development, guaranted for many decades to come.
